Another Fall Weekend

We've had a good weekend so far. Cate went to her first birthday party for a friend. Her friend David (from her class at school) turned "3" and we had lots of fun celebrating. David's mom had a bounce house at the party, which Cate really enjoyed.

David's mom also had a pinata for the kids to play with. Here is Cate with several of the friends from her class waiting for the pinata, a picture of the pinata and a picture of Cate picking up her candy after it opened.

Finally, we went to the WSU football game last night. Chaz couldn't seem to get a picture of both Cate and I looking at the camera, but we had lots of fun.

Bye for now!

Family News

So, we just found out that we will be having a little boy on or about Feb 2, 2013.

We are thrilled, but my head is spinning. I think this means our life is changing fast!

First two weeks of school

Cate and I have both survived the first two weeks of school.  A few highlights:

Last Friday 8/30 - Cate's school took her first field-trip to an outdoor fair on campus. The got to bounce in a bounce house and tour a police car. So, here is Cate in her first police line up.
Last Saturday - the start of College Football. Chaz and Cate are KSU fans, so Cate has been loving all of her cheerleader outfits.
Last Sunday afternoon, we had time to take a hike down a (paved - so it is cheating) trail near Ogden river.

Last Monday (Labor day!) we went and saw the new outdoor mall in Salt Lake City. Cate was really excited about all of the fountains.

Oh, and we bought a new car. These are terrible pictures, but our driveway is too narrow for me to get far enough back with the camera. More (better) pictures hopefully soon.

Which brings us back to this weekend. More KSU football. Love to all our friends from Utah.

First Day of School + New Swing Set

Today was Cate's first day at her new preschool up at the university. She wore her special "Dora" outfit sent by her Aunt Rachel for the first day of school. She didn't want to stand still for a photo, but here are a couple:

We also finished most of the swing set in the back yard. Here are a few pictures of Cate loving the slide and the (only) swing we've hung so far. More swings and a teeter-totter type device still need to be hung.

Helping to Build the Swing Set

We bought Cate a swing set that is supposed to take 8 hours to build. Well, 8 hours later and we still have swing-set parts all around the backyard. But, we are hopeful that tomorrow we will have pictures of the finished product.

Here are a few pictures of Cate helping to build the frame.

Finally, I went and got Cate a back-to-school haircut. It is actually very cute, but she wouldn't sit still and let me take a picture. It is just longer than chin length with bangs.

More pictures of finished swing-set soon (we hope!)

Overdue Post - Family Visit

On their way to Seattle, Chaz's sister Pam and her four boys - Mason, Henry, Caleb and Simon stopped by with Chaz's sister Deb to play with us for about 24 hours. We had much Cousin fun, and finished by a trip to Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake, where we saw wild bison. Here are a few pictures from the adventures:

And, just because she wore a cute dress to church on Sunday, here is a picture of Cate with Chaz.

Pioneers' Day

For those of you who don't live in Utah, today is a "Very Special" holiday. It is Pioneers' day, which in Utah is at least as important as July 4th (if not more so). It celebrates the day the Pioneers crossed the mountains and founded Utah. Or something like that. Anyway, Cate and I were off work/school today. Chaz unfortunately was not because his company in Nebraska does not recognize that today is the kind of day where everything (banks, trash pick-up, etc.) is closed here.

This morning Cate and I went with our friends Jenny and Oliver to the Pioneers' day parade. Even though we live in a desert and it is July, it poured rain on us for most of the parade. But, here are a couple of photos anyway.

Then, after lunch and nap, Cate and I went to play in the only place that was open - the mall. They have a little play train there that we decided to ride for the first time. Cate loved it.

Chaz goes out of town tomorrow for work until Saturday, so Cate and I have a few more mommy/daughter play days in our immediate future.

So, how did you spend your Pioneers' Day??
